From keithr@tenaya.physics.lsa.umich.edu Wed Oct 16 22:36:47 2002 Date: Fri, 4 Oct 2002 17:18:52 -0400 (EDT) From: Keith Riles To: LSC Detector Characterization Working Group , ulgroup@gravity.phys.psu.edu Subject: S1 data quality - Input welcome but needed soon Dear Colleagues, John Zweizig is preparing to create in the next couple of weeks a revised set of segment tables in the database with a more refined definition of "good data". Recall that the database currently contains segments (used by LDAS search engines) corresponding to data declared by control room operators to be "science mode". The new segments will be subsets of those thought to be free of gross pathologies. At today's detector characterization teleconference (agenda at http://tenaya.physics.lsa.umich.edu/~keithr/lscdc/agenda_oct02.html ) John and Ed Daw presented some plots that will be used in defining the new set of good-data segments. We decided at the meeting that in order for the new segments to be of use to upper limits groups in carrying out pre-Nov 1 preliminary analysis, John should finalize the defining criteria very soon. Consequently, if you have a particular criterion for vetoing data that you would like to be included in this round, you need to inform John very soon, by the end of next week (Friday October 11) at the latest. It is envisioned that another, still more refined iteration can be carried out in the future (e.g., in December). So this isn't the last chance to define "good S1 data" in the database, but it's the last chance for a while thanks, Keith --------------------------------------------------------- Keith Riles | Phone: (734) 764-4652 Associate Professor, Physics | Lab: 763-7208 University of Michigan | Fax: 936-6529 500 E.
