SpecMon Status - Feb. 27, 2004
(Author: Tim Bodiya - Michigan Undergraduate)
-
SpecMon is a new DMT monitor designed
to allow interactive, GUI-based tracking of band-limited RMS for arbitrary
channels and bands, with user-defined trigger thresholds.
-
A 6-hour strip chart and histogram
are displayed for each selected band, along with trigger rates over several
past time intervals, up to 24 hours.
-
Engine is a background monitor running
continuously that communicates with the GUI via a socket.
-
When the user has found a set of desired
set of bands and thresholds, a config file can be automatically produced
for running the background monitor stand-alone for long periods.
-
GUI is meant to streamline the tuning
process. Meant as a replacement for ServoMon which has a laborious tuning
cycle.

Still to do:
-
Make GUI-monitor communication more
robust
-
Speed up code
-
Add windowing to Fourier-based band-limited
RMS algorithm
-
Improve graphics presentation
-
Add pop-up windows for additional bands
-
Fully enable all GUI data fields
-
Allow for calibration input by user
-
Fix remaining bugs
-
Bottom line: not yet ready for prime
time, but plan to release for use after semester ends (~May). Tim will
be working at Hanford this summer on another project and can refine SpecMon
according to user demand.
