E9 Preparations (
E9 Web Page
)
- IFO status (S.Whitcomb, R.Adhikari)
H1 and H2 both expected to run well during E9, although H2 is still
fussy at the moment about going into common mode feedback.
L1 has not locked since Sunday night, believed to be because of unusually
high micro-seismic noise (3-4 times normal). More attempts will be made tonight.
- Critical hardware/software problems? No known show-stoppers. Some
new ASC code at LLO seems to work fine.
- Scheduling and special requests:
- The calibration team will begin its full-up calibration procedure
at the start of the run. New DC calibrations have been performed at LHO this
week and give results consistent with previous measurements. Calibration
progress at LLO will depend on progress in establishing lock. A first stab
at measuring sensinfg functions and open loop gains will be made tonight at
LHO so that SenseMonitor can be fully tested tomorrow. Choices will also be
made for the three injected calibration line frequencies (injected differentially
on etmx and etmy) and that info conveyed to Sergey and Patrick Sutton for
config file updating.
- The signal injection team will start its work at or after midnight
CST on Saturday night. They expect to need a total of two hours, including
setting up time. Only a modest subset of planned S2 injections will be carried
out during E9. Peter and Szabi will be working at LLO and will get help from
Mike at LHO and Isabel at Oregon.
DMT Status:
- John has tagged DMT version 2.4.1 for E9 use. Things seem to be working
fine at LHO, and will be running soon at LLO. A problem in FrameCPP with
checksum generation has been fixed, allowing SenseMonitor trends to be readable
in LDAS.
- SegGener will soon be defining more than one kind of segment in the
database to identify good data. At Duncan's request, segments will be specially
flagged for which there is signal injection. Final testing of the new SegGener
code awaits implementation of some new EPICS channels, expected before E9
begins.
- Three monitors will be run under the process manager for the first
time during E9:
- CorrMon (A. Ottewill)
- PTMon (N. Zotov)
- ShapeMon (S. Marka)
- Sergey has a new instantiation of LineMon to track calibration lines
in the excitation channels themselves, in order to allow tracking of relative
phase changes in the sensing function.
- PeakMon has a known memory leak that Ed hasn't had time to fix. It
now crashes every 2-3 days and will be run on a machine that can crash without
affecting critical monitors (gypsum at LHO, nesslin at LLO).
Online DSO Status:
- Patrick and Duncan now have online DSO's running at both sites to
give rapid feedback to the control room. In addition to inspiral templates,
there will be a burst search job and a generator of "short fourier transform"
(SFT) for pulsar searches running and reporting results in the same format.
- The burst job is a first step toward migrating the complete online
burst search system into Duncan's integrated monitoring scheme. During E9
Patrick will be at LLO and Duncan at LHO.
