M5 Preparations:
-
Interferometer status (Fred Raab)
Fred expects full control on the thermal compensation system for both H1
and H2. He expects H1 inspiral sensitivity to reach 5 Mpc in the evenings
and to drop to around 4 Mpc during the day, because of nearby excavation
work. H2 is not working at the moment, but he expects it to be getting
to around 1.5 Mpc by the time of M5, although there is no guarantee of
reaching science mode.
-
Run activities
(Keith Riles)
KR went over plans for evaluating DMT monitors during M5. Contact info
for authors has been posted on the M5
web page, along with guidelines for monitor evaluation (taken from
last year's M4 run) and a signup sheet for monitor evaluation, where brand-new
or significantly changed monitors receive the highest priority. Persons
who will be at Hanford during M5 are urged to volunteer to evaluate one
or more monitors and let KR know in advance. ( Several LHO staff on the
call volunteered to help.) KR hasn't finished updating the M5 page (amalgamation
of last year's M4 and S3 web pages), but will work on it in the next several
days.

Critical DMT issues for M5 preparation:
-
John Zweizig: Infrastructure status and deadlines for new monitors
John will tag a new CVS release (version 2.10.0) on Monday after
incorporating new monitor code. At the moment, he has new code for SenseMonitor,
StochMon and SuspensionMon, expects code later today for Seis_Blrms, BurstMon, and
PTMon; and expects code on Monday for PulsarMon. After the new DMT release,
he plans only minor changes in infrastructure before the S4 run, mostly
in the frequency series methods. John will be arriving at Hanford next
Wednesday.
John Whelan asked how to ensure that monitor documentation
is made available to users. JohnZ replied that one can use doc++ for documenting
the code itself and then run makedoc. The CVS directory containing the code
should also have files with the names:
- monitorname.author - name and e-mail addres of author(s)
- monitorname.synopsis - 1-sentence synopsis of monitor's function
- monitorname.html - web-based documentation which can also point
to other files, e.g,, pdf files, gif files in same directory.
If present, monitorname.pdf overrides the
html file.
-
Patrick Sutton: Calibration infrastructure
No updates since the release of EasyCalibrate. Only one query received
from other DMT authors trying to use the new code. (Sergey requested info
on obtaining calibrated response functions.) Patrick will work with Mike Landry
to get updated H2 response functions into the right xml file format in the
coming week. SenseMonitor is ready for testing with the new EasyCalibrate
interface.
-
John Whelan / Mark Cenac / Brian O'Reilly: StochMon
StochMon is now in the CVS tree. It runs offline and online. For now, it
does not yet use EasyCalibrate, but does use the old SenseMonitor
underlying engine. One change needed before M5 is replacement of a
hard-coded filename with a config file line.
-
Ken Ganezer: seis_blrms
No report.
-
Sergey Klimenko: BurstMon
BurstMon will go into CVS today with EasyCalibrate being used. Sergey needs
to do some running on H1 data between now and M5 to make sure things
are working correctly. If EasyCalibrate proves troublesome, he can back
out the new code. Two issues that mildly concern him are the need for several
input waveforms and the performance of the monitor in real-time. He will
let John know what input files must be available to the monitor and is optimistic
the monitor will be able to keep up in real-time. KR suggested throttling back
the number of injections per unit time, if needed, and living with a larger
statistical error on hrss50.
-
Giovanni Santostasi: PulsarMon
KR reported on Giovanni's behalf
that he plans to finish shaking down the PulsarMon code over the weekend
at LLO and give it to John on Monday.
-
Rauha Rahkola: SuspensionMon
A revised SuspensionMon has been committed to CVS and runs, but a new bug
associated with trending has appeared in which only one data point (minute)
shows up per hour in the trend frame. John suggested checking the dependence
on time stride. Rauha said he believe 61-second strides are used now, which
John said could well cause troubles. Rauha will track the problem down
over the coming weekend.
