Keith's DMT wish list (not necessarily complete!)
Figures of Merit:
- Generic class to provide calibrated AS_Q spectra once/minute for use
in all astrophysical FOM's
(Patrick Sutton has agreed to rework SenseMon to provide
this feature).
- Inspiral FOM's
- Additional binary mass combos (beyond 1.4x1.4 solar masses)
(on Patrick's eventual to-do list)
- Stochastic FOM's:
- H1/H2 coherence tracking and effect on Omega sensitivity - latter
needs some thought
(undergraduate working on this with John Whelan?)
- Corresponding L1/Hn quantities - needs more investigation - some
latency likely
- Burst FOM's:
- Measure of "instantaneous" glitching relevant to astrophysical burst
triggers
(Burst group now paying close attention to this
issue)
- Pulsar FOM's:
- Focus on Crab pulsar (~60 Hz) - quote time required to place upper
limit that beats energy conservation
- Rescale raw spectra for assumed fixed time? Perhaps expected upper
limit on pulsar ellipticity? Range to unknown pulsar?
(Should be very easy once Patrick's generic class
available)
Improvements, bug fixes, completion of existing monitors:
- New DTT version with customized retrieval of SpectrumArchiver spectra
(Tim Olson working on this)
- Graceful handling of data dropouts by all monitors, especially NewSeisBlrms
(Ken Ganezer working on this)
- GUI for tracking DMT spectral features on the fly with rapid redefinition
(Tim Bodiya working on this)
- Tracking of standard set of BicoMon frequency/channel pairs with proven
influence on IFO performance
(Steve Penn working on this -- welcomes help!)
- Reliable inter-site DMT viewer communication (so each control room
can see the other's state)
General wishes:
- More online documentation of monitors
- More use of existing online infrastructure (html pages, alarms, plots,
etc.)
- More performance measures and inter-monitor comparisons
(Help from analysis groups welcome, but authors
can do a lot more! Use John's new simulation/evaluation code!)
