Scientific Monitor Camp
at Livingston (August 18, 2006)
A one-day instructional camp on information and skills useful to
scientific monitoring will be held August 18, 2006 at LIGO Livingston
Observatory. There will be a mixture of talks on general concepts
relevant to gravitational wave interferometry and on particular
software tools available to scimons in the control room.

Miscellaneous:
- The camp sessions will be held in the Auditorium.
- Lunch and coffee/pastries will be provided courtesy of LIGO Livingston Observatory (which asks only that you study hard in return!).
- Participants should also arrange to obtain general computing (GC) Livingston accounts, if they do not already have them (see instructions).
- Participants wishing to try software tools should bring a laptop computer (windows or linux) that supports ssh and sftp (and ideally X windows display when logged in remotely to a GC computer - commercial packages for Windows include Hummingbird Exceed and Xmanager).
- DMT work will be carried out on the decatur and/or bermuda computers.
- Slides from the presentations will be posted on the web (preferably in advance), and the presentations will be videotaped for later web archiving.
